Cleaning And Polishing Exhaust Tips?

My Bassani tips are not in the greatest condition so I was thinking of cleaning and polishing them or just buying new tips.

Has anyone done this? How long does it take?

are they chrome? if so i recommend this Turtle Wax® Chrome Polish & Rust Remover (T280RA) - Tire Cleaners - Ace Hardware

it's chrome polish/rust remover, worked wonders on my old foose wheels, you might want to try getting a buffing thing on a power drill. best of luck

By machine or by hand? It will be easiest if you take your catback off first, then get to polishing. I've used this stuff on my roommates polished GSXR frame and on my tips, and it works good. It will take some time, but not as much as I thought it would.

Also when you're done polishing them, seal them up with some of this wax and they will stay clean longer and clean up easier:

It depends on what you want to clean and what its made of. If they are Stainless steel, hit them with some #0000 Steel Wool and call it a day. If they are Chrome, your gonna need to get some Chrome polish/cleaner.

The whole catback is stainless steel. I was thinking since the tips are clamped I can pull those off the car to clean them up a little by hand.

Maybe I'll use some steel wool to clean them up a bit and then use some sort of polish?

Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish. works on my tips and CAI, makes them look good for about 2 or 3 trips to school. then they get dirty again.

Bassani catback can be cleaned up with #0000 steelwool then followed up with Mothers Mag & aluminum polish then followed up with Mothers Billet polish since its stainless steel. All the three mentioned above can be purchased at Walmart.
