Don't want to sound like a prick, but if you have to ask about wetsanding you probably shouldn't be doing it. There's alot that has to come into play to do it safely. Do you have a PTG? What polishes, polisher, pads, and products are you using?

I haven't but GM typically has a harder clear coat if that's what you're after.

oh ok sorry for being a dick and i agree that gm has harder clear coats and use 2500 grit to start 2000 grit if 2500 really doesnt touch it. hopefully that helps!

P.S. be very very careful with 2000 grit though you can do some serious damage and will have more then what you are trying to get out. also photos would help of what you are trying to get out! post one up!

Yeah, black is not where you want to start. It shows EVERYTHING.

Plus the starting wetsanding grit depends on what you're doing.

1000 grit- massive runs from new paint job
1500-2000 grit - orange peel
2000-3000 grit - smoothing out things on par with 1500-2000 grit abrasions

Then after 3000 grit I go to the 3M polishing compound on your typical buffing pad (well maintained of course.) After the regular compound I go to 3M swirl remover on a foam pad, and after that it's up to you how fancy you want to get.

I suggest the OP starts with some Meguiars unigrit paper in starting with 2500 then to 3000. He then should know what the following steps are to remove the sanding scratches.
