Cowl Panel Restoration.

Years back I encountered some white overspray from a neighbor that was illegally painting cars in his back yard. My car got a light dusting and needless to say, it took hours of claying to get the car right. The only part I can't get to look worth a crap is the black plastic cowl panel between the windshield and hood. Since it is textured, it has little specks of white in it. I've tried:
-back to black
-clay
-rubbing compound
-toothbrush and abrasive
-alcohol
-cleaner waxes

I am thinking about hitting it with some semi-gloss black rattle can, but is there any other methods I could try? I really don't wanna pay the ridiculous prices for a new panel.

any help is appreciated.

Your best bet is to re-paint it. Just be careful when removing it, they are easy to break.

Thats kinda what I figured. Would a semi-flat krylon work or do I need to use auto paint?

The car spends 98% of the time in a garage.

Have you tried a weaker solvent yet? An adhesive remover and some elbow grease may help.

Anything will work really. If you want a semi-flat then just grab some krylon. Some Adhesive Promoter would be a good piece of mind also.

I wouldn't got with Krylon though. Rustoleum is a much higher quality paint.

I respectfully disagree. The spray nozzle on Rust-o-leum paints is horrible. It produces a circular spray pattern which is bad. Think about it... All air guns spray in a straight up and down pattern. Krylon and Duplicolor paints do this.

Also, I have used Krylon for COUNTLESS projects and it has never disappointed me.

A nozzle is easy to change. The quality of paint itself is not. I frequently change the nozzle when I paint with rattle cans anyways. hahaha

^ I have to agree with Zatrekas, I have used krylon for years with good results. The valspar spray paint is also good.

I took the panel off and scrubbed it really good with soap and water, hit it a few times with alcohol, and then shot it with some krylon satin black. It looks 100000x better and the sheen almost matches the side mirrors perfectly. Thanks for all the help guys.
