Cleaning vinyl Decals

Ok so I'm in process on a 2011 Roush 5XR, hit it with a 1-step polish today, wax is going on tomorrow. Only problem, is I originally though the decals were painted on, but found out they are white vinyl today.

Just curious what y'all do to clean//protect vinyl. Normally I just tape over the vinyl while polishing and waxing, but this is a very large area with a bit of water spotting.

Said car, with said giant vinyl on hoood.

Do the reverse style taping of what you did to protect them while polishing. This time you need to protect the paint. Get yourself some Autoglym Super Resin Polish, its a very light polish that will clean them up nicely and works well by hand and also it will put a layer of protection down as well since its a AIO. Get a Autoglym Perfect Palm applicator and polish by hand, I never suggest using any machine on vinyl it can lift under pressure and heat from the machine. You can then follow up with a trim protectant like 303 or Autoglym Rubber & Vinyl Care or just throw some Menzerna Powerlock or BFWD on it and remove it and your good to go. The Autoglym products can be purchased at Pepboys. As for the decal that states Roush Charged, I would just leave that one alone if they are not bad but if they are I would use a q-tip and put a drop of AG SRP on it and polish it slowly, you dont want to get residue in the edges of the paint and the vinyl.

Thanks man! Reps

I wasn't going to touch any of the vinyl besides the big white area on the hood.

I'm glad I read this because Vinyl has always been a big question mark for me and I usually just wash it, hit it with QD and a Microfiber and then seal it up. But I like this a little better.

Once Spring hits and I start actually getting my regular clients again, I definitely will be using it.

I didn't have any of the Autoglym polish on hand, but I did lightly go over it with Meguiar's Plastic Polish, and it did an ok job of taking some stuff out. It's good enough because I didn't want to "test out" anything to severe or push anything on a car that's 1 of 133.

Topped it off with Powerlock and it came out pretty good.

Nice man...

I have the detail bug... Soon as I get all the issues with the car fixed I am probally gonna at least strip it and re glaze/wax for the coming cold weather. Our Winter does not start till later Jan into Feb.

No point in doin a full polish since it's winter.
