Crappy paint job?

Is it normal for green toi be rubbing off onto my buffer pad when I buff my car? Sounds like a very crappy paint job to me

But if its a single stage paint, then yes its normal for the color to come off on the buffing pad.

Ger, Unless its a one stage paint, then the paint is fucked. If its a one stage, then that is normal. Not many one stage paints are done now a days however.

If I recall correctly, didn't someone here get some paint job for bumpers or something that was supposed to be done in the guys home shop but ended up being done in the street or parking lot?

Part of this car were painted outside where is sits in this picture, the sealing and priming. The paint was done 10ft back in the garage by yours truly.

Corey I know I sold you the Makita did you practice enough with it prior to polishing your finish on a scrap panel? Did you read the Rotary article on Detailing World and watch the rotary use videos I posted for you. I hope you didnt strike through the finish man. I doubt you have a tinted clear even though Zinc is right there are vehicles which have it but I dont think your is one. Also if you have a single stage finish you can get a microfiber towel with some light polish on it and polish any area of the vehicle by hand and you will get paint transfer on it this will tell you if its a single stage finish. But if you struck through the clear then it will only happen to you in the section you had that paint transfer and depending on the severity you will have to either coat with something like Opticoat V2 or repaint it.

For everyone confused by the parking lot thing, an old member on here had some guys on craigslist come and paint his car in the parking lot of his apartment. It sucked, and he didn't get why.

More on topic, as everyone has said, either it is a one stage paint, or you have burnt through the clear coat.

Danny, even when I had my PC 7424XP, it still rubbed off onto my pad. I know I didn't burn through the clear if there is any. All I polished was the hood

it's not bad, but it's OLD school. It doesn't have the depth as bc/cc paints do.

Are the door, hood and truck the same green? If they are, the red you're looking at is probably from a donor car, then repainted.
