My boss told me about this sticky- very good info. Just in time for the summer, too, when all the car shows are happening. I'm sick of gettin made fun of because of my engine bay- it's dirtier than hell. This should shut some people up... Thanks Emay!

Emay, great how to. it works wonders.
i know they are not s197's but i used it on both my 02 v6 and my 72 chevelle, and it worked wonders.

here is a pic of the v6

i wasn't able to take a pic of the chevelle, but trust me when i say it was grungy before, and now it is very shiny. every one who seas it says it looks like a brand new engine.

just figured i would give my testimonial for this, every one should do it if at all posible, it works wonders.

I've done this a couple of times as well - to my car and to hubby's truck - worked great!

Great write up Emay...

I wished that I would have saw this when I first purchased my car. The engine bay looked like it had been coated with vasoline and driven down a dirt road a few hundred times. Instead I paid to have it detailed under the hood @ a local dealership and it still looked like crap.

I wish that I had before pics...here is the after.

Hopefully that will be changing soon enough...still completely stock under the hood for now.

Thanks everyone - glad it's working out.

I have an edit - make sure if you have Hids on the car (since this was my path long before they were available), that you take special care around the ballast and electrical connector. Seems the oem ones are well built, but the aftermarket ones are not. The result can be a shorted ballast. I'd take care to avoid them both and simply wipe those areas by hand.

done it both ways, doesn't matter. Generally the battery needs cleaned as badly as the rest of the bay. A little water doesn't hurt it..
