Buff/Sand Your Clear Coat by Hand

This is courtesy of Travis_Afx

This is for getting rid of light scratches that cant be brought out by buffing alone.

For those of you who are "hands-on" and don't like the DA Sander:

First your gonna want to soak all your paper for at least 15 minutes before using it.

Put a few drops of dawn liquid dishsoap in your water to help lubricate the water.

I like to use a soft foam sanding pad so i dont get any finger grooves while sanding.

Try to sand with the "direction" of the panel using oppsing angles.

Start with some 1500, you will use this until the scratches are gone. Go slow with this step, because you sure dont want to sand to much clear off. I have a little rubber squege that i use to dry the panel off every so often, because it is easier to see the scrathes when the panel is dry and the water isnt "filling in" the scratch.

After you get a sutible surface switch to the 2000 grit. The point of the 2000 is to get rid of the 1500 scratches. Its not for leveling out the paint really, that was supposed to be acomplished with the 1500.

I like to always have my clear finished when i get done with the 1500, so after that i am just refining scratches.

Okay after the 2000, go to 2500. Alot of people would say its not neccesary to use anything above 2000, but i know you want it to be the best it can be so use the 2500, I mean really whats an extra 10 or 15 bucks, its your baby.

Then its ready for buffing
