Need Some Help


I recently purchased a frame and and top from a cobra to replace mine. I was wondering if anyone has ever attempted something like this on here, and if they have any tips for me.

So far all i really know is that i need to pull some molding before i can ever begin to figure out what needs to be un bolted in there. Any help would be appreciated, as this is my first attempt at something like this.

same exact thing....... the only reason i mentioned it's off a cobra is because it's an 03/04 cloth top that was taken off a terminator orginally, which is the more expensive, better material

After reading through this: How to Change Convertible Top on Ford Mustang | eHow.com

I would just say be sure to take your time. It's a job I wouldn't tackle but from the looks of that write up it just takes a great deal of patience. I also think maybe having a buddy help would be a great plus.

i've already read that and i am doing it with a friend, but the issue is that only covors the first few steps, then veers off into replacing the material of the top itself, and not just entire frame and all

Well I would think the frame would be the easier than putting the top on. The frame bolts right up, from what I've seen, and I'd leave the bolts hand tight. Then from there it's a matter of aligning the top with everything, i.e. the doors and body lines. It's a matter of tightening one side, loosening another then tightening another bolt, etc.

I just watched the one muscle car episode yesterday about how to put a top on a car. They brought a pro in and everything. Let me see if I can find it. It showed/explained a lot man!

the dude i bought it from says it's about a 4 hour process to do the swap, that it took him less then 2 to actually pull the top off, and that everything lines up, i just need to make sure that everything it lines up, and not just placed and bolted down

Yeah 4 hours sounds about right at MINIMUM. I'd give myself from mid morning til' like dinner time for the swap if I were to do it
