somewhat confused
ok. I like to lower my 2004 gt conv. I spend a couple of days researching it. Man, the longer I search the more confused I get.
Here is what I like to do. Lower my car by about 2 inches. I think I like to install the H&R sport springs , they seemed to have a much better review then the Eibachs. Also it will lower my car by about 1.9 " in the front and 1.6 in the back, now I read that I may have to use additional parts to keep my steering aligned if I lower it more then 1.5 inches. . Can I trust my ford dealer to put parts on correctly or would it be better to go to a suspension shop that can advise me of the extra parts. I guess best would be I buy all the parts and then have it installed. Big question is what are the other parts? |

that is an very agressive drop, but some parts you should research are
springs shocks/struts caster camber plates (4 bolt design) spring isolators bump steer kit another option is to buy a package, that would have a lot of these parts included. i would sugguest you do this yourself but if that is not an option maybe a local performance speedshop, because aftwards you are gonna need a good alignment. |

i would steer clear of a ford dealer service shop. a suspension shop or a speed and custums shop as mentioned above will be better cost wise for doing this if you dont have the time or resources to do it yourself. look for avg installation costs of about $250 for the lowering stuff though. maybe even a little more. you wont get alligned properly with a drop of even 1.5"; i have a subtle drop of about 1" all the way around, and my allignment is very close to perfect, but not quite. all i did was change springs.
with a drop more than 1.5" you will also want the shocks/struts for that height and a good c/c plate for allignment. i would look at kits as 99mustang232 stated, because you would save money buying a whole suspension package (in the long run) than just buying parts individually

You will also want some weld-on subframe connectors.
