Air silencer

I was putting my " Flowtechs " mufflers on and someone told me that I should put a high flow air intake in it aswell (That makes sense to me. ). He also said if I cannot afford one right now, I could just remove the "air silencer" and replace it with a plugg, hmmmm. O.K. so my questions is; is he right ? How do I do that ? What kind of "plug" ? THX 4 you response, Inge. P.s. My car is a torch red 2007 Mustang GT D.s.

What is the air silencer? Does he mean the filter? You don't have to do anything to the intake if you are just doing a cat back or axle back.

The silencer is on the airtube, between the filter and the engine. I went to the Ford guys down the street and they showed me on their computer how it looked like, but they do not what to use to plug the hole with once I removed the silencer.

I didnt plug my hole haha I removed the air silencer, I think its in the fender , right? then I put in a K&N air filter. I did not oil it , I dont think. BUt Im thinking about making sure theres oil on it. In dusty conditions, it would help not to allow alot of dust get into the engine.

But anyways, ya, thats what I did...

here is a pic-

some people put a ram air on their mustangs, my friend had one on his it has a long tube that runs under and sticks out the bottom of the nose of the car

You have an '07 GT? The silencer he's referring to is the jug that sits under the intake tube. The Mach 1s have it as well. yes you can remove it and plug it with no harm to anything and I suppose it might gain you a whole .1 hp. Maybe make it a teensy bit louder too?

i'm 99,9% sure your oil filter came with oil on it, otherwise insects, dirt and alien stuff will go right into your intake...which isn't very good for your engine.

K&N sells a kit to clean, wash and re-oil your air filter, it's easy to do.

As for the air silencer, its a big piece of rubber that goes into your fender. you can remove it safely.

this isn't for your year but it will give you a good idea on how-to
