problem
Hello everyone,
My name is Tyler i'm from Ohio and I own a 96 tangerine orange GT . This is my first car and i love it, but i have a problem. When i go into second gear, instead of chirping the tires the car just makes a weird noise that doesnt sound to well. What could be my problem here? Thanks

Could be a clutch... just speculation really as you weren't very specific with the sound or where it's coming from.

With the info given, my first guess would be tha clutch. If you give a few more specifics, we might be able to pinpoint it for you.

Does it do it every time you shift or only from first to second? Is it a soft thud or a sharp bang? Do you notice the shifter moving excessivly under acceleration? It could possibly be the transmission mount broken or loose. You could check that yourself with a flashlight and a jack. Just put the jack under the tailshaft housing and put enough pressure on it to see if it is tight or not.
