boost & Gears

My ultimate plan is to go with a KB but that is a few years down the road. In the meantime I would like to changeout the gears.

Considering the torque of the KB throughout the rpm range i'm afraid that the 4.10's will result in a tire shreading experience even with 315's. centri's can probably get away with it due to a bit of lag (i understand lag 100% from my past life with the imports and my eclipse). I'm not interested in the car skating all over the road like trying to force an elephant to sprint on a frozen lake

What I am interested in is feedback from all boosted owners of all types and if I should go with the 3.73 or 4.10's keeping in mind that it will definately be a number of years before I get the blower and more then likely I will go with a screw type as it is nothing but fun on the street.

Thanks!

I replaced my 4.10's with 3.73's before I got my kb. Both were great and fun on the motor, but I would say 3.73's.

looks like I just got an excuse to do the gears. leak on my rear diff from what looks to be the pinion seal. spoke with Eric at Swarr auto and he will install the 3.73 FRPP parts and labor for $495 with an additional $125 for his master bearing kit.

the leak gave me the leverage I needed with the wife and getting the parts in lol.

sound like either my TOB or pilot bearing is going out to. in neutral with the clutch out I can hear an obvious bearing whirl. Going with the ram HDX setup. Car has 83k on the stock clutch so it is about time.

Thanks for the feedback fellas!

A guy who's car I put a charger on is a centrifugal with27560/15 street tires with a auto and a 4000 stall has 4.10 it is just plain sick on street tires it is a real hand full even with the ET/ streets when the boost would come you had better have hold of it due to it lighting the tires when it wanted to. he is gone to back up to 3.73 in the near future but this a fox body that a few # lighter. we have the same size tires on our coupe and only run 3.31 rear gears and with real street tires you just don't get on it at all it will fry the tires off it at will when the boost hits even at well over 50mph. Now with the DR on it is much better but it is the same as the other car you better be waiting on it to change lanes cuz you just don't knowwhen it is gone to brake the tires lose. With a KB and 410 and instant torque I would gowiththe 3.73 or even back don't to a 3.55. But I know auto hit a bit harder then sticks with the engine rushing up the power band with the lose converters.

I am running 4.10's with a blower, the car is an absolute blast down low. I went from 3.27's to the 4.10's and it was like night and day.

I also had to swap from a 26 inch slick to a 28 inch slick. I was running out of gear on the 26's.

If having the possibility of having to change to a 28 inch tall tire worrys you, I would have to suggest 3.73's or 3.90's.

4.10's are too steep with my Procharger, although the car was setup for nitrous before, when the gears were installed. Personally I think I'd rather have 3.55's now and just run a 26"-27" tire.
