You want to know what overdrive is???? Its high gear on your overdrive trans. Usually .76:1 ratio or so for fuel economy.

also if you have a 4r70w, DO NOT EVER shift into OD while at wide open, it will kill your trans quickly and if you have higher than stock hp it will do it even quicker

the 4r70w is damn near bullet proof as long as you don't ever shift to OD at WOT, neutral drop it(sounds stupid but people do it), and keep the fluid changed regularly

overdrive is where the computer puts the tranny at the highest possible gear for the amount of gas steppin your doing to help save gas

OD is just an extra gear to save gas. going from no O/D to o/D at high rpm drops them real rapidly and confuses the computer so the tranny hops through all the gears again.

Ok...I new it was an extra gear to save gas, but I didn't know the rest. I have done that once...Won't do it again.Thanks....
