Can Someone Explain How This Works?

I figure if it worked at all, the only thing it would do is speed up the rate at which the exhaust exited. I am sure I am wrong here, but how much would that even benefit the car.

I am sure I am wrong, so please enlighten me

It takes the exhaust from one chamber in the muffler to spin the turbo, and puts it back in the other chamber. Just like putting a turbo off the manifold except less efficient I would assume and I bet the tubing will be a bitch to work.

There was a Z06 vette that was next to me with a setup like that. His was under the car (STS Sytem i think). He said he didn't get that bad of turbo lag from them.

Well look at it from a different point of view. Yes it isn't going to work as well as a regular turbo kit but it is going to make one hell of a sleeper if he hides the rest of it well.

Err.. I know I am retarded here, but I am learning.

Isn't the point of a turbo to allow more fuel to be burned by adding more air into the mixture?

So if the turbo is after the fuel has been burned, what is it accomplishing?

the exhaust is not being re-routed into the turbo. The exhaust is spinning one thing that spins the turbine that compresses the air.

I don't think that setup is legel because it's now inside the car, that and it looks like it will not work too well and have more weight from all the piping. If it does work it would be a sick setup.

yea. Turbo is spins up from exhaust pressure, Turbo forces air into intake at a set psi. more psi=more air=more RWHP.

Well that seems like there would be a shit ton of lag, if it has to be routed back up. Why not jus tmount them in the engine bay.

the more air you can fit in the cylinder the more power you can make, but with air your fuel system has to be able to provide enough full...hence boost....boost forces more into the cylinders providing for more power

yea the exhaust runs through the hot side of the turbo and the hotter the exhaust the more pressure it makes which in turns make the turbine spin faster which then sucks air thru the filter and forces it through the rest of the system into the motor.

yes it would lag some but if he wrapped all the pipes and what not to keep that heat in they would prolly still spin up pretty quick

my only thing about that is that its in the car which means its gonna be hot in there and seeing as the wastegate vents in there its gonna be really loud too. i still dont understand how he is routing the cold side.

i'd be interested in seeing how he fixed up the mufflers to work right for this

that is similar to the STS kits but STS totally replaces the mufflers with turbos.

think of a turbo as a vortech/procharger that is driven by the exhaust gases instead of a belt off the crank shaft
