? for those who are supercharged
I have a 2003 mustang gt, it is lightly modified and I am ready to order my blower but I am very confused and wanting your guys opinion... I currently have 4.10 gears, catless x pipe, magnaflow catback, cai, and underdrive pullies. I cant decide if I want to go with the kenne bell 2.1 intercooled kit or the vortec kit.... With my supporting mods after I am done I want to be over 400 horse, but dont want to get inside the motor until it blows up lol... I have read alot of the threads on this subject already and understand that it all depends on what im looking for. I wont be taking it to the track all the time, but when I do I want to hold my own. I have seen videos of kb gt's and honestly there not that impressive looking to me but they sound awesome. This is my daily driver and I want it to be as reliable as possible, and I really didnt want to have to get it dyno tuned unless I have to...
Anyone with a kb 2.1 or a vortec, procharger kit if you would tell me your opinion about your setup. Thanks everyone for you time. |

First off is you put a blower on you should get a dyno tune, you can run a bolt on kit and go with the tune they give you but it wont be perfect and youll likely not be at the full potential of the setup.
4.10s are a bit much for any blower but even more so with a PD style, with all the low end torque your gonna have no traction. I have a Novi 2000 at 14psi and love it! Very streetable, and when I wanna get on it and let it rev it screams! Not sure where your located but there was a big discussion on another forum about what the stock block can hold. What it came down to was gettin over 400 is pushin it but it you live at higher elevation you actual power youll be makin will be less than the numbers you get on the dyno, thats why some guys run 450+ with no issues.

no I blow my motor with 435, like 100 feet above sea level so the correction factor is very low. I have a livernois 5L stroker now. I have a mac prochamber and cat back, AMF power pipe, Accufab 75mm t/b and plenum, 60 lb injectors, intercooler

i have a procharger, exhaust, 4.10's gears, etc..7 lbs making 368 hp and 406 rwtq. if you're going with a KB you'll want to get rid of the gears and get some 3.73's or something like that. i have fun in my car, but more boost would be bad with the 4.10's.

KBs are fun street blower, especially if you like blowing the tires off! Centris are bad ass too. I'd keep the gears for the centri, but get something like a 3.73, or even the stock 3.27 are fine for the KB with its instant TQ.

3.55 gears with 6 speed and P1SC at about 9psi. It's perfect for me i love it. Yea like previously stated if your going with a twinscrew ditch the 4.10's otherwise your going nowhere fast. If you really enjoy supercharger whine the twinscrew design generally has a bit more whine but you can also get more whine with a smaller pulley

I would just go ahead and build the motor at the same time..yes its more money but better than having to take the blower off again when ready to build besides you will like the new found power if you just bolt up the supercharger now but once a month or so goes by you will want more and wont be able to because of stock internals

PD whine gets old real quick. nothing beats the whine of a vortech V1 at idle.

Huh? You'd rather have it make all kinds of noise at idle than at wot? And that doesn't "get old quick". Biased a bit?
