Magnaflow Exhaust

i heard duals = loss of Torque .

and i needa get new headers / X pipe / New Bumper so i said screw it ..

Going singles . BUTTTT

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...merican&id=948

selling for 285 BRAND NEW . should i buy it? or not? and anyone know how to install this? besides singles is all i can afford right now . anyways is that a good choice for that price? . and if i wanted to upgrade to duals cant i just add another magnaflow and a X pipe to it?

loss of torque my ass! that is BULLSHIT. who is spreading such misinformation?

i have long tubes, no cats, and dual magnapacks from magnaflow and didnt lose torque.

get duals from an H or X pipe, not the Y pipe. if you want more sound and power. and get high flow cats or an off road midpipe

i need y pipe if i dont get headers is that correct?

and is 285 worth it for a new magnaflow singles it goes for 360+ on magnaflow.com or should i just save for headers,X pipe, duals?

cause for 285 i could just buy singles add it and add a chrome tip . and the sound is okay on that too right?

and if i bought dual Roush exhausts could i just use one of it for a singles?

and what is a glass pack?

ok. lets clear the air a little bit. First off, the system you had on the link is actually $368.00. Duals DO NOT decrease torque. I mean, thats just stupid to say that. Just do back to the dude that told you that and just bitch slap him for me. The point to dual exhaust is to get your exhaust fumes out FASTER. Single outlet only gets them out so fast. Dual exhaust get them twice that speed. do the math. Also, if you just want duals for the look and a little performance, do what i did. I just got a Pypes system off of Ebay for $450.00 it is really easy to install. No need for an h pipe (unless you want to buy one). Just take the system somewhere and have them cut your "Y" pipe so it ALMOST looks like an h pipe. And have them weld it on from there. Thats what I originally did until the past saturday when I got Borla True Dual with Flowmaster Super 40's. That is what you should get But its a LOT more money. Yes, if you get headers you can use your STOCK Y pipe. BUt if you get Long Tube headers I dont believe you can. All shorty headers will bolt right up. You dont need to get a new Bumper either. WHO TOLD YOU THAT???? Dont even worry about Singles for now. You really wont notice any difference at all. Maybe a couple Hp. You will notice a sound difference, but nothing powerwise. Just get duals.

exactly. there has been so much misinformation and hearsay said in these v6 forums lately, and it is about time someone got the facts straight.

If you don't know, dont post. Simple as that. The more free the exhaust flows, the more power, but this is limited at power rating, pipe size, pipe bend, and muffler design.

I will put this out that a V6 unless turbo'd shouldnt run no bigger then a 2.5 inch piping....you will lose trq going to a 3 inch setup.....as or 2.25 piping and 2.5 there are times your trq may go up slightly power the HP will go up alot better but it also helps for the car to have power....as for y pipe duals remember it may not give the HP as a h pipe does or a X pipe does but it still will increase HP u guys may forget or not know that Vettes, Trans ams and Camaros for example have y pipe dual exhaust....unless running dumps or custom piping most kits are y pipe bolt ons...couple of my buddies of that setup on their Ls1's and he mentioned that finally theres gona be a Custom kit coming out to use a setup other then a bolt up y pipe with dual tips.....so buy saying it gives no power is incorrect ...just not as much power...im sure they sell y pipe bolt ups for the Ls1's for a reason and ive seen single exhaust on Ls1 Trans Ams and Camaros before as well but its a single 3 inch setup like a stock mustang V6 just bigger

there are math formulas regarding hp rating and pipe size.

If you are low on funds then instead of buying an exhaust system why don't you have a local shop give you true duals with a crossover and mufflers?

It will be a *lot* cheaper and just as good as a purchased system.

Here is a cheap custom H that will allow you to put on a dual exhaust set up. There's even one for a V6 with L/T headers.

in MM and FF they put a 3inch Flowmaster exhaust on a Foxbody....which currently had a 2.5....and it lost trq but gained a lil bit of HP....they said you couldnt feel any difference in positive gain but the sound changed...then they recommended cars with power adders or good amounts of HP should run 3 inch otherwise 2.5

For your car to need 3" exhaust you better be pushing some serious HP. Like over 400! Most GTs only need 2.5". A V6 can get away with 2.25" exhaust.
