Do longtubes have to come off to pull tranny?

I'm trying to talk myself into long tube headers for my 98 GT but i keep finding reasons to not do it. Right now it has upr catted X and flowmaster catback from the previous owner. I have to swap out the upr X no matter what because it has fittment issuses. My options are...just go with a Magnaflow catted X and Magnapacks (i can get a great price on these) OR BBK longtubes with an offroad X and keep the Flows.

I'm dreading everything involved with dropping the K-member to install the long tubes. I'm also going to need to pull my tranny before too long for a rebuild and clutch so my question is...if i go with long tubes do i have to go through the K member drop again when i have to pull my tranny?

To drop the tranny, the most you would have to do is take off the midpipe, loosen up the headers from the heads, and just hold them out of the way. That should do it. I took a look at it just a week ago because i am putting in my torque converter soon and that appears to be all that is needed.

When you say drop the k member, i would just unbolt the motor, undo the fan shroud, and jack the motor up.

Everything i've read says its not as simple as that to do headers on a 98.
