the strut on the front driver side is making a squeaking noise whenever i go over a large dip or bump, i figure its time to change out those struts, but i wanted to get a second opinion.

i would look into your tie rod ends first. i had a 94 and that did that and it was the tie rod end. ford dont use grease fittings and over time it squeaks.

how hard is it to change the tie rod ends out? i can get all of them at a discount through work, so if i can do the job myself in like a day, then ill go ahead and do that. the weird thing is, it only squeaks when its really warm outside...

Takes 30 minutes at most.

You need to jack up the car and support it.
Remove the tire.
Remove cotter pin from the crown nut.
Remove crown nut.
Use a tierod separator AKA (Picklefork) to remove tierod from hub.
Loosen lock nut on the rack-n-pinion side of tierod.
"Important" Count the number of turns required to remove tierod from rack-n-pinion.
Install new tierod by screwing tierod on to rack-n-pinion the same amount of turns it took to remove it.
Tighten lock nut.
Install tierod into hub.
Install crown nut.
Install cotter pin.
Install tire...........................
