Ok educate me please

How do tire sizes work. What I mean by that is if I want to run skinny tires up front and extreamly fat ones in the rear how do I look the up. Sizes of wheels that kind of stuff. I know nothing about tires and sorry to sound like an idiot but I am just confused about them. Any help please.

Err ok I will try my best.

So for example a 275/35/18 means I do believe is 275mm width/35 mm sidewall(???)/18 inch diameter(Rim size).

(width of the tire)/(sidewall height)/(size around)

315/35/17

315 wide, 35 side wall height, 17" rim

I think there is some kinda % to go with the sidewall height

look up a tire calculator on google, much easier way to figure things out
