97 Cobra, Starter Jolts, but motor does not Turn

Im Picking up this car from a co-worker, Its a 97 Mustang cobra, (standard)

He said he was driving normal and the car died. Now when you attempt to start it, the starter does Jolt, but the motor does not make a rotation. He took it to a mechanic and they tried turning the motor with a wrench and the motor wouldnt turn.

I am having a hard time thinking the motor just "froze" without warning, and nothing broke out of the block in the process.

Is there something else that could have gone bad, or "froze" causing the motor to not rotate?

Thanks all!

Could have hydro-locked. I may be wrong though but I don't think you'll get water in the oil if it hydro locked but its been a long time since i've seen this so i may be wrong as well. Sure some one will correct me if i'm wrong. Was the coolant lvl low or really dirty looking when you got the car?
