Vortech IAT Correct?

I just did virtually the last step in my Vortech install and it was adding an IAT since mine(03) had it in the stock MAF.Im almost certain we connected the 2 correctly. We cut wire 1 & 6 from the connector and soldered them to the 2 prongs on the sensor.

My question is how will I know if we connected the wire to the correct prong or if we have them backwards. Or if they have a good enough connection. Will I get a Check Engine if its not connected correctly? Any other way to know for sure? I looked on other peoples setup and and im almost certain its done right.

You want to get a 03 Lightning IAT sensor with pigtails...

The outer 2 gray wires are correct...

The preblower IAT's will always give false readings...

The order doesnt matter for which wire where...

Did you buy and 03 Lightning IAT? Not talking about the IAT that comes with the kit...

I have it in the discharge tube after the blower & also before the TB, but im wondering how will I know if the soldering made a good connection onto the sensor. Will I get a check engine if its not reading the sensor? How will I know if the sensor is getting a reading? Because I read in another thread it could cause detonation if not installed correctly. So i'm a bit worried.

If you have a handheld tuner plug it in and datalog the IAT once you get it hooked up to see what kind of readings you're getting.

If you know anyone with a tuner you can use theirs to check it out.

Also some of the higher end code readers will do the same thing, maybe a local auto parts store could take a look for you with theirs.

Okay thanks. Would it throw a check engine though? I've turned it on let it run a bit and got a check engine, However I know i'm going to get 1 because I got a base tune and it didn't turn off my O2 sensors for my exhaust, so that very likely could be triggering it. Gotta get a scanner and find out for sure. But is it possible itd give me a check engine?

I would think it'd throw a P1112 if it wasn't hooked up.

How are you getting this tuned?

Hopefully it all works out for you.

I ended up driving my car ~1000 miles after my procharger install without a tune. Just stay out of boost as much as possible and you should be fine.

Oh alright thanks, yeah just ran the code and im getting P0453, "Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor High Input", believe its something with the install of the fuel pump. So the engine seems to be fine, so going to check that out and get it over to my tuner. Thanks
