Help teach a mid aged dog old tricks...
I've painted a car or two but something I never done I assume the correct way is dying carpet.
I've detailed and spot treated carpet with simple fabric paint, but I'm getting ready to pull out the carpet in my Mustang. I really prefer it NOT to be flaking 2 weeks after painting it... ![]() With that in mind, does anyone have advice on how to prep the carpet so the paint will bite? I know the basic, good wash job. What i don't know is should i prime it. if the make a fabric primer or just give it a good wash job and paint away. Thanks in advance. |

You want to use a brush. Spray the paint on, and brush it into the rug, then repeat until you achieve proper coverage. You are going to be stepping on it, so you will have to touch it up from time to time.
