True Dual Exhaust

I'm just wondering if someone could give me a definition of exactly what is "true dual exhaust"?

its when you have 2 tail pipes and 2 mufflers, not 1 tail pipe and 1 muffler and has 2 pipes at the end of the muffler.

Close.

It's when your two headers each run to separate mufflers and each muffler runs to separate tail pipes. Or just skip the mufflers and have your headers go to collectors and straight out the back.

You have the right idea, but there are all kinds of lame ass fake dual exhaust setups. Basically, you do have two mufflers and two tailpipes and they only cross at an X pipe or H pipe.

Which is why I said "Close," then added that there are many fake dual exhaust configurations. I've seen "dual exhaust" systems where one collector splits to feed two mufflers and out two tailpipes.

v6 cat backs keep the stock y and are in essence a fake duals. True dual for a muffler shop usually means 2 totally separate pipes with possibly a connection by a mid pipe.
