Clutch Quadrant, Firewall Adjuster, Height Adjuster Install w/pics

I just did this mod and thought I'd take a stab at documenting it for y'all.

I always thought my clutch pedal was way to high. So I went and got the UPR Quadrant, Firewall Adjuster and Pedal Height Adjuster.

Here's the deal:

The install is pretty straight forward, although it did take me a few hours getting it adjusted correctly.

Basically:

Remove the driver seat. Makes it a million times easier to get under the dash.

There are 2 pins that hold the clutch quadrant on. Pull those out, and pull the quadrant off.

Pull the cable out through the firewall.

On the end of the clutch cable, there is a big rubber piece, and mounting bracket. With a razor blade, cut the tips of the white plastic piece off and slide the rubber piece off. It doesn’t get used again.

Mount the firewall adjuster where the old one was. Its kind of hard to get the screws in, but its doable.

Put the clutch cable through the firewall adjuster and back through the firewall.

Now, it depends on your clutch cable, where to put the end of the cable. I tried the top mounting point, but it made the cable to tight, and engaged the clutch right at the top.

I ended up using the middle mounting point which was perfect.

Put the quadrant back on and put the 2 pins back in.

Next install the clutch height adjuster. Hard to explain, but hopefully the picture shows exactly how it goes. Then just adjust the screw in or out to adjust the height of the pedal.

Use the firewall adjuster to adjust where the clutch engages. Mine is about 2 inches above the floor, and fully engaged well before the pedal is all the way out.

Overall I am very happy with this mod. Now my pedals are almost even. Clutch pedal is still about an inch higher than the brake pedal, but overall, 100 times better.

This article with pics really helped me out. Bought a BBK kit and the instructions, well sucked. My 1990 GT's plastic quadrant has a few broken teeth. I like that the slf adjuster is eliminated.

Thank you

Thanks, I was a bit nervous about putting my steeda quadrant and adjuster in, but you made it seem pretty simple, can't wait to get it all in.

I want to get one of these for my 96 Cobra, is any brand better or easier to work with than the other?

Hi All, brand new to moddedmustangs. Thanks for having me.

I just purchased a '95 GT that has a MM quadrant and firewall adjuster installed. The clutch engages as soon as the pedal comes off the floor. I would like to get the clutch engagement to take place further out in the travel but my firewall adjuster is almost completely backed out of the firewall. I am afraid there won't be enough threads engaged If I try to back it out any further. Any thoughts?
