Running an open X pipe?
Hi,
I have seen a few people run exhausts with no mufflers (SLP LM1's as well), they sound very loud, but they don't seem to have much of a performance gain. If you were to run an open X-pipe, with turndowns, would there be any boost in performance? Also, is this bad for the car (burned valves and such)? I would imagine that this would also trip many of the computer settings, but it doesn't seem that just taking off the muffler does. The car i am considering doing this to currently has full Bassani exhaust, although they are very loud, if i could run an open X-pipe, efficiently and reliably, i would do it. Would this work, and be also benfefitial to performance? Thanks |

Open H pipe.
I am running open exhaust dumps right behind my H pipe and the sound is wild, especially when the car is under acceleration. If you do this you might as well forget about conversation or music in the car. Although at smooth highway speeds the noise is not too bad. These dumps have caps so that I can run my regular exhausts. They are a lot of fun and the rumble draws a lot of stares. Also, it feels like the open exhausts have improved my performance.
