Creating a functional front splitter?

So I think I'm going to put on a splitter.. for function.. sure it needs to look ok but it needs to work..

I'd love to have a CF one, but I don't want to spend that kind of cash.. I'm guessing I can just use some lexan or acrylic?... any recommendations on a good, light and cheap material?

Plywood.

No, seriously. It's cheap, rigid enough not to bend under pressure (a common problem with too-thin splitters), and easy to work with.

Thanks I was considering it, vs. the stuff I saw BMW's making out of lightweight alum frames and some other honey comb material..

I can't help but remember when they made a wood one on top gear and it caught fire LOL!

PVC foam board. Comes 1/4 inch thick and in black. Water weather and color fast. Light weight easy to cut and edges can be sanded round. Has a textured surface and needs no paint. Can be glued if you need to like PVC pipe.

With my new stays.

With my original cables. really doesn't need either at the length I have it.

The PVC board has brand name Sintra. Any shop that sells plastic sheets or can order plastic can get it for you. You want them to get as having a single sheet of 4x8 foot costs an arm and leg to ship but they buy plastic by the truck load doesn't cost them nearly as much. The full sheet cost around $100 and you can get two splitters if done in one piece because it take a 2x 6 foot sheet to make one.

The rods and bottom brackets are made from Delrin a hard plastic. I bought the plastic from the same shop and turned the parts on a lath. I am probably going to remake the rods in carbon soon.
