Do Tips have anything to do with loudness or HP?

I was wondering if Exhaust tips had anything to do with loudness or horsepower, and if 3" or 3 1/2" is too big for a 05 mustang GT. It sounds good already, but I was just wondering if I brought it up from a 2 or 2 1/2" (cant really tell) would it help.

You will have a bit of sound difference but nothing huge. It all really depends on how the tip is designed though. What are you looking at exactly?

There will be no HP difference though.

I haven't really looked yet, I was just wondering what a change in size would do. The ones I have now are slit at an angle at the end, and are not a full circle at the very tip. I'll probably look for some similar to this. Does the company I get it from (ie flowmasters or magnaflow) have anything to do with the sound as well. I mean can there really be a huge difference in the tips.

it will change the way your exhaust resonates.... wont really make it louder, just affects sound quality. i wouldnt go smaller than 3 inches, 3.5 is prob best if you have a nice setup.

but that's me.

Those aren't too big at all. My new magnapacks have 3.5" tips. The wider the tips the deeper the tone of the exhaust is what I was told.
