Creaking noise during steering

Have a creaking noise when I turn the steering wheel to the left only. I have a 2003 mach1. It appears to be coming from the passenger side. I think its the rack & pinion. Any feed back will be most helpful. Car has only 12,000 miles never driven hard or on rough roads and driven only by one driver. The noise occurs both idle or moving.

I had a noise like that at 24k on my 01 cobra. I had to replace some outer joints forsome reason. But the noise went away after that. Almost as if the joints had become dry at close to lock.

i kinda have the same problem. mine isn't very loud and it doesn't do it all the time. i was told it was my outer ball joints. i bought the, but haven't installed them yet.. they run about $45.99 a piece from advanced.

SQUEAK/CREAK NOISE FROM STEERING RACK WHEN TURNING

2002-2004 Mustang

Some 2002-2004 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a squeak or creak type noise when turning.
Replace Power Steering Gear Tube Brackets

Tighten the steering gear mounting fasteners to 52 lb-ft (70 N•m).
