Okay So The Truth About Superchargers Comes Out
Based on principles of compression....Not personalities this is how it should be.
Leaving the Roots totally out of the question as there is no arguing the enormous amount of heat they produce which is what drove the modified roots or twin screw into development in the first place. Twin Screw=Larger surface area, large amount of frictional heat produced along with a fixed volume which limits the blowers ability to move air as efficiently thus producing quite a bit of parasitic heat. The upside is the limited reliance upon high rotor speeds to produce positive displacement. Centrifugal Blowers offer an advantage on a couple of fronts. Number one there is no fixed volume due to the Volute shape, they are only limited by sizing and impeller speed, now true that very high impeller speeds produce an enormous amount of heat (frictional coefficient of air is factor) the advantage is that with the open impeller, there exists an abundance of pressure drop across the vanes, and then velocity conversion via the volute blower body. Thare also exists the probability that within all of these factors a lot of ambient moisture is evaporated thus decreasing charge air that much more. All this taken into consideration just getting into the minimalist approach to thermodynamics it is actually a conceptual fact that a centrifugal compressor should produce less charge air heat than the twin screw typ compressor. Now that I have had my fun with those two guy's, I do not want any misinformation out there, not with my name attatched to it and I apologize for the garbage slinging that had to be endured for me to prove a point and bully. Next time I will be a little nicer.

yea thats true, but it doesnt really matter - bc both systems can reach power extremes that for our purposes make the differences insignificant

Look man .. I appreciate the discussion .. I'm on here to learn as much as I preach .. you confronting my traint of thought caused me to really go behind and scenes and find the truth ...
Good arguments yeild good outcomes ... I am not here to bullshit .. I really do love to learn considering I have been the owner of a Chevy Silverado Show Truck on Nitrous most of my adult life ... having these forums is a great way to talk with guys who now own the same type of car I do .. a mustang ...

turbo will always outpower a s/c but you can get in to 9s and 8's with blowers...and even 7s i believe in the 1/4
both make an EXTREME amount of power...unless you going for the record then either option is a good option record that i know of is the blacka nd green mustang TT'ed 6.66 in the 1/4 yea bad number huh

lol. Imagine, I start a thread to make peace with a couple of guy's I was shitty to, just when we have things all worked out just fine, somebody wants to jump in the pit and stir up shit.lol
Honestly itschris, I appreciate your input as wel we probably all do, but this thread was not started to argue about blowers or tubos being the better match. If you don't keep on topic, it seems to stand peoples hair up. I think that is the point MeZ was aiming at. Let's re-focus...we are supposed to be having fun. |
