High Intensity Discharge Lighting

Driving home tonight I decided that I want to upgrade my lighting, being out here in deer country.

I have worked with HID's before on previous vehicles and I know the runaround on them. I will probably select a 6000K setup because I have read that your eyesight works best with lighting between 4300K-6000K.

My only concern with the HID's is I know they require a minimum amount of voltage in order for the ballasts to perform correctly. The ballasts can burn out if the voltage drops too low; however, most have a safety switch to cut them off if this happens.

So, driving a 5 speed I know that sometimes off the line you can let the RPM's ease below 500 which causes voltage to drop and the HID's can cut off.

Anyone have experience with this? Could I combat it with a capacitor or should I needn't worry about it?

dude....just buy a $25 kit from DDMtuning.com and call it a day...its all there in the kit..plug & play, nothing else needed...have fun with it...i don't think many stangs on here don't have HIDs...since they are both cheap and so much better then standard lighting...have a good night

Sounds good, thanks. Last time I messed with HIDs was 2006 and they were a bit more pricey.

DDM tuning kit on my 2010. Haven't had a single problem. The kit I got came with a relay harness. Very easy to install. Haven't had any problems so far and I have the 5000k kit. Perfect IMO.

Anyone with a 1999-2004 Mustang GT that has installed a DDM Tuning 9007K Kit mind answering a few questions?

1) Did you get the Dual Hi/Low bulbs
2) Did you have to modify your headlight housing for them to fit, e.g. were the bulbs too long.

I have seen this happen before, and it will be a deal killer for me.

the battery will have enough juice to keep them on, the only time my hid's have ever flickered was when i turn them on then start the car

Awesome. I'm going to place an order for them!

If only I could find a kit that comes with 893 bulbs for the foglights. I suspect 880's might work as well.

If I were you I would seriously go with the 8000k. I know a lot of people are complaining that it might hurt your "eyes" but I have to disagree. I feel like the pearl bluish/white gives out a great look. Sorry I didn't answer your question just thought you might wanna rethink your choice.

Thanks but I've had HID's before and 6000k Is my personal choice.

Human Eyesight responds best between 4300K and 6000K. Beyond that you start losing visibility.
