Revving

You know when you rev a engine and then when it falls back down to idle and some cars rattle or stumble when they come back down??

What exactly is this?
Whats making that noise?
Is it bad on the engine?

Something is loose. Or Exhaust leak.

Man that's old school carburetor set up that had that problem.
The carburetor would shut to quick and cause a stumble or stall the cure for that was a part called a dash pod. A small diaphragm that caught the throttle and closed the last 1/16 slower.

and on the older cars the rattel was a bad spring on the exhaust flapper. you needed that to push exhaust back through the intake and out the other side to heat the engine and help the choke spring work when running cold.

It may studder from in-sufficient air flow, kinda like choking and not being able to breath.
I'm not really sure what else it could be. Maybe a video would help me if I heard the sound, but I'm no technician so sorry I couldn't help much.
