question about rear suspension... WTF are these??

Ok.. i just got an 86 Vert and noticed today i have a clunking in the back end. so I put it up on stands and found these in my rear springs... Im THINKING they are preventing sag in the old springs... a set of new springs are 86 bucks so I might just replace them, but still would like to know if that really is what these are.

that metal thing is what im asking about...

thanks guys.

Yup, they're spring spacers for sagging springs. Just use the springs from your 02.

AHHH I hate those spacers! I tried them once for my car back when my fenders hit my bigger tires after lowering. Clunked like a MOFO! LOL. For an 86 I would definitely get new springs, they're probably just tired.

Are you replacing the motor in the 86 or the 02?
