Smoke from the Shifter

1988 Stang GT Beast Carb Coversion

After ridding the smoke from my valve covers thank god, I do have a little splash of smoke coming from the shifter. Now the boot and the leather boot is all worn so it doesn't fit the holes anymore but I do get a tad of smoke from the shifter.

It doesen't smell like anything major just a normal burn off smell. It's not coming from the shifter cover... Please help me out.

Actually just found out...

My dag um heater core was out. After plugging in the senser plug to the overflow tank I guess everything for the radiator started working again, and in return pumped out antifreeze on my hot damn near fresh Flowmasters passenger side pipe which caused the smoke to go straight up.

So now The heater core is f'ed up so have to ebay for a heater core. I was wondering why in the heck it was always wet under there on my pipes and stuff until today where it was a bon smoker.

Get a copper heater core, not aluminum, or else in 6 months, you'll be doing the same damn job again.

no, no, no......take the 5/8 hose off, swing the 3/4 around and clamp it to the tube the 5/8 came off and walla? ( however so spell that word) you've bypassed the heater core.

If the pipes are copper, the core is most likely copper too. We got ours at Napa since it is directly next to the Lincoln Mercury dealership a buddy of ours works at, and he hooked us up.

That is a copper core. Just be sure and put a copper one in or you will be taking the dash out again in 6 months...

Ok all of the 58 and 3/4 stuff I don't know. I just took the two hoses that are from the firewall and adpated those two together and that was it. no more leaks other the the access in the core running out.
