Fuel filter line

Ok, I looked in front of the gas tank and noticed the fuel filter on my 1987 looked original. I also noticed that there was a line beside that one. Is that also some type of gas hose? It was in the process of being melted by the exhaust pipe !!

That one sounds to be the fuel return line and from the sounds of it needs to be replaced soon. Otherwise, you might find yourself in an "explosive" situation.

it's a special plastic line, you might have a hard time getting a section of 3/8 rubber line to seal if youre looking to just repair the section

I see....plastic. I guess I will get the OEM replacement. I need to figure out something so it will not happen again. currently have the lines out of the way held by a few ties.

I was just thinking back......My rodeo uses a rubber fuel hose and my 96 cobra used a rubber fuel line too. Do you think I can just go back and replace it with a rubber fuel line? I am not talking about the steel lines just the ones that connect to the feul filter. Has anyone else done this ? Thanks

I guess I am afraid of the plastic line melting again. The rubber fuel line would not have melted. I will go back with the OEM hose but do a rubber insulation around it just in case the ties break again and the line ends up laying back on the tail pipe.
