Discussing my window dont work in the General Tech Forum. the window on my mustangs dont go up right...it goes off to the side.....

my window dont work


the window on my mustangs dont go up right...it goes off to the side..does anyone knows whats the problem and how much will the piece cost to fix it..i think its the bracket, how much do those run for?..i been to some mechanics and they want to charge me 60+ just to open up the door to figure out wats broken plus charge me for the piece that im going to need to fix it.....this is not good!!!....any advice?

What year is it? Is it power or manual? You can remove the door panel in 1 minute on most Mustangs. I don't know what the problem is, but you should be able to fix it yourself because the window pullies and motor are pretty simple to work with.

its a 2001 mustang gt and the windows are power and i have been thinking of just removing the door panel myself[/quote]

sounds like the window run channel is broken. Remove the door panel and look at the channel the window rides in. The channel clips into the door frame and has a bracket on the bottom w/ 1 bolt holding it into place. My guess is that the bracket broke where it's welded to the channel. Have it rewelded or just buy another channel.

if it goes off to the front or rear, then either the front or rear lower clip could be loose or broken. if it goes off to the left/right, then 1/2 of the clip could have broken off of either the inner/outer halves of the clips
