torque wrench??

I pretty much have all the necessary basic tools needed for various jobs on the car, but I do not have a torque wrench. I'm not trying to go cheap or anything, but I wouldnt have a use for it every day, just something to get by for brake jobs, and various other jobs on and off.

I'm looking to really spend no more than $50, and have seen them range anywhere from $30 to over $100.

Anyone recommend something that is straightforward and works how it should?

thanks!

I was also wondering if I did get that 1/2 in torque wrench, since i have a bunch of 3/8" sockets, would a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter added to the TQ affect any readings??

The reason I would buy the 1/2" over the 3/8" is because there is more ft/lb numbers for them in relation to price compared to the 3/8".

Please let me know! thanks

I bought one of these about 3 weeks ago for $39.99 (Had a coupon). So far it's working great.

Here is what NOT to do. I got a cheapo1/2 inch torque wrench cause I knew I would be taking off several wheels on my and my kids cars. Wanted to torque lug nuts. After about 20 operations, the click feature stopped working and I stripped a couple lug nuts because I kept waiting for the click.

My suggestion: Dont go TOO cheap on this tool. My $.02. Enjoy!

Thanks. I ended up getting a pretty good one I am happy with a few weeks ago. It is an electronic one.
