Liquid teflon?

I got my plenum today and it says to put some liquid teflon on the fittings before screwing them on. What the hell is liquid teflon?
I called 2 hardware stores and they have something similar used for plumbing, but it is a paste. If U know could u please tell me the brand/ where to buy? Could I just use teflon tape or is that a no no?

Liquid Teflon? Never seen it. Teflon tape isn't going to work. However the hardware stores suggestion may work. You want an air tight seal right. So the plumbing paste may work because it helps seal water right.

They're referring to "pipe thread sealant" or "pipe joint compound". It is a paste. The stuff at the hardware store is correct.

Wondering if you purchased some yet? If not try to find some stuff called, "Gimme the White Stuff". I use it at work all the time and at home for many different applications and it's unreal. Considering this is my first post I can't submit a link but here is a product description:

All purpose PTFE THREAD SEALING COMPOUND that produces leakproof seals on threaded connections. Lubricates, seals and protects threads in an extensive variety of plumbing, heating and oil field threaded pipe connections over a wide range of services, temperatures and pressures. Will not dry out, stain, harden or separate. Non-toxic. Will not destroy the seals of valves or faucets. Wipes clean from hands easily.

I do not work for this company or sell this product I just thought it'd be worth knowing as this is a great all around product with many uses that won't harm anything you put it on.
