Engine flush and what kind of coolant?

So I had a coolant leak, turned out it was just a bad radiator cap. Replaced that, but I kept losing coolant, and only replaced it with water. So I'm gonna flush it all out and replace it with new coolant. I don't know what kind of coolant or anti freeze mix to use though. and to do this flush, I plan on opening the valve under the radiator, draining it all out. Filling it up with water and running the car until it gets hot. Then draining it out again and filling it with the coolant. Is that all I need to do?

The valve on the bottom of the radiator is called a "petcock"
Couple tips - use distilled water so your engine doesn't corrode as quick. You can buy premixed antifreeze or full strength which you can dilute 50/50 or 1:1 with distilled water and its much cheaper. As far as flushing it goes, you could always take the thermostat out when you flush it, that way the coolant is getting pushed through the passages before the engine is at operating temperature to save you a little bit of time.
