Torque Wrench

Can I use a ft/lb torque wrench for inch/lbs by dividing the inch/lbs by 12?

You would multiply the ft lbs to get inch lbs. so 1 ft lb = 12 inch lbs

OK, thanks. Really don't want to buy another torque wrench.

No problem. I don't blame you. Tools get expensive.

Torque wrenches are very inaccurate less than 10% and greater than 90% of the full reading. for a 300 ft-lb wrench, readings less than 30 ft-lbs can not be trusted. Buy the wrench. The machinist handbook contains formulas to determine torque vs position of the fastener head past tight position.
