Weird Question about the flow 40's...

So I went to my local muffler shop over here in my town the otherday.. and he told me he would conver my '02 v6 vert to trual-dual with custom H pipe.. and told me this... this is what threw me off.

He said if he used a real flow 40's.. it would be $475..

But he said theres a brand of muffleres that technically NOT flows... but they're the same version.. same specifications and everything. He basically said they ARE flowmaster 40's.. its basically just 1 serial number off because it seemed the guy who patented the 40's branched off from the company and started makin his own away from flows...

He said they make the same difference as brand name FLOWS would be... its just the flow name that makes it $100 bucks more...

So now tell me mustang community... is this a good deal? Does any one know what hes talkin about, what type of muffler hes talkin about and is this true??

Or is he trying to give me something thats low quality?? I dont want to get taken advantage, nor do I want to be something thats below par. Is this a good deal??

Comments/Input/Concerns please!!!

- Thanks so much!!!

i go to a lot of car shows around my area and talk to loads of vendors about that kind of thing...i've heard of the imitation flows and from what i know most vendors at these car shows don't even buy the flows to sell anymore because you can get the same thing cheaper...Now i don't personally know about their durability or anything, but i know that a lot of people in my area have them and they seem alright so far...

Trual-Dual Exhaust with Custom H-Pipe with NoNameBrand FlowMaster 40's Type w/ installation = $375 ...

Flows souns is pretty easy to dup;icate because they have been around so long. I think the imitations would be fine. Besides it's only going on a V6.
