The art of traction.

Can anyone school me? Here's my setup;

2001 v6 converted to v8(315hp) auto trans.
Eibach pro springs
worn out shocks/struts
AJE crossmember stock front control arms, stock front sway bar
8.8"rear w/3.25 gears
stock upper control arms,Roush lowers no rear sway bar
rear tires are 275/40/17 Kuhmo's.
Full length sub frame connectors welded in

It's so bad I looped out last nite playing with a Jaguar and almost backed it into a telephone pole!
I know most of the problem is probably tires but I have never had a car lacking so much in the traction dept. before. I've had cars that made much more power and had better traction than this one. I can roll along at 35mph and go WOT and spin the tires. If I mash the throttle from a dig it wonn't stop spinning til I get out of the throttle.

I know there are guys on here making way more power than I am. How do you guys do it? I don't really want to run DRs and I am looking to upgrade wheels, what advice do you guys have?

This is not my daily driver and future plans include turbo or Maggie but not if I can't solve this traction issue.

A torque arm should put the power down better.

Can a TA make that much of a difference? Don't know much about them.

Not sure where you live, but if its cold out, traction will definitely be an issue. The tires won't be able to grab nearly as well as when it is warmer out. Maybe adjustable shocks and struts, and some drag springs will help out.

I'm in PA and was thinking the same about the temps. The problem is that I don't get any traction when it's warm out either. I'm gonna replace the shocks/struts come spring time and was also contemplating changing the rear springs too.

get some tockicos, and some nwe tires. get some 555's or maybe 555rs if you want. Should take care of it. TA setup would be overkill for your current setup. Yeah it would hook, but the cost would way outweigh the benefits. Tires, shocks, and maybe some good uppers and you'll be fine at your power level.

OK, so it looks like I'll be looking into some Tokico's and Nitto's. I'm still wondering which Tokico's. Before the Nittos,I need to burn off a set of Riken Raptors I just got off CL cheap.
