2011 5.0 Front Suspension Damage
I ran over a concrete parking lot pillar in my 2011 5.0. I didn't see it until I was right on it, swerved to miss it, but hit it with my left front tire. Since I was in the process of trying to avoid it, it's difficult to say what angle I hit it at.
Now, I'm getting a drumming noise with some vibration in the floor from predominately the front right wheel although impact was on the left wheel. The noise is a fast muffled bass drum wubwubwubwubwub - goes through cycles from quiet to loud with about 5 "wubs" per cycle. It's noticeable after about 40mph and gets worse (louder with more vibration) as speed increases.
I have tried the following three things:
1. I started with a 4-wheel alignment. The steering wheel no longer vibrates nor does the car pull to one side. However, the steering wheel's cross members are not perfectly aligned when traveling straight, but are less than 10 degrees off. I assumed this is just how the technician set the steering wheel when he did the alignment.
2. Next, thinking the tire or wheel could be damaged/misbalanced, I rotated the tires, front to back and back to front. No change. The sound and vibration was still resonating from the right front wheel.
3. Last thing I tried, per a technician, despite the fact that impact was on the left, I had the right wheel bearing replaced since the noise is coming from the right. No change.
