Need instruction on gasket on the timing cover

I have a 90 5.0 and I am having some leaking from the timing cover.

I have already changed the oil pan gasket, and wanted to know about changing the gasket on the timing cover.

I took the water pump off, I am going to replace it, but it seems that I can not get the timimg cover off unless I pull the crank pulley and harmonic balancer. Is that correct? I also see haynes manual says some crap about cutting 2 pieces of oil pan gasket and putting it at the bottom of the timing cover

I would think all I would need is the gasket for the timimg cover????

Thanks,

Robert

Yes you will have to take the harmonic balancer off. You don't have to cut the oil pan gasket but it can be a real pain in the ass if it is a 1 piece rubber, especially if the dowel is still in place in the front of the block where the timing cover mounts. Take your time, have patience and pay close attention to what you are doing.
