good write up...
I'd trade my procharger set up for a nice turbo set up any day.. That whistle at idle coming from a centri charger sounds wicked though... or the whine of a KB.. wow...

A KB Set up though will Give You a much better curve through Your power.
Where as a Turbo Will Come on Screaming after 3500 rpm's... Much like a Centri although there's less of a trade off for power

A TC will still boost MUCH faster then a Centrifugal though, and will produce more power and MUCH more torque at the same psi.

two quick questions...i remember there being two little downsides (not really downsides just things to deal with) i think the term for one was "backwash" and the other had something to do with letting it cool down before you turn off the engine....or maybe it was that its bad for it to just start it up for a couple mins, like to run a minute down the road or somethin
any chance u could clarify these? |

I have a friend with an 03 or 04 turbo galant. Not 100% sure on the year, but he blew a t25 turbo.. Guy loved to rev his engine and cut it off with his foot on the accelerator..

The power curve is not "better" with a twin screw, the instant torque is what makes a twin screw worth while, esp for drag car. If the curve was better it wouldnt get smoked in the upper rpms. Also somebody mentioned turbos are better for daily driving... what? Turbos are not easy to drive and hard to run constantly with, a centri or twin screw is going to be your best daily driver

most roots and screw blowers should be good for 100000-200000 miles before needing to be rebuilt.

definitely roots or twin screw for a daily driver. Need proof? watch a video of a turbo stang on youtube that shows the tach while accelerating. It is ridiculous. the one I saw had bad lag between about 2-4k rpm (about like being nat. aspirated) then the boost just came on like crazy at about 5000 rpm and caused serious wheelspin. Believe me, I have an 03 Cobra, and I woudnt trade my low end torque and progressive power for that peaky crap anyday. Yes the turbo will make more power with the same boost, but I know that I accelerate the most between 2 and 5000 rpm. that is where the roots and screw blowers literally blow the turbos away.

generally a 5psi turbo will match the power a 9psi s/c makes usually AT BEST 8psi off a s/c after bolt ons...
