Difference between S/Cs
i was just wondering which supercharger has the upperhand. i was looking at the Prochargers and Vortech, i know they're both Centris but which one is better in your opinion?
also, i know the KBs are insant power but can i get as much power out of one of those as i can a Centri? i have a 98 GT auto by the way |

procharger FTW!!!
not to mention that prochargers have a 4:10 step up ratio where the other centris use a 3:73 step up so the prochargers will see boost sooner.

Prochargers are nice because they're intercooled, but they produce about the same power and are more expensive than a non-intercooled charger.

a centri is the best all around setup - hands down - its a lag free turbo, for some reason all these kids think you can make 35 psi on a small turbo.... it doesnt work like that, for more "huge" boost numbers you have to run bigger turbos - where the lagg gets greater. now you can run twin turbos - but they are bitch, very expensive and dependent upon boost level can and will still lagg... now if your a genious you could run a sequential twin turbo and have 0 lagg and mega "free" hp. However lets not even go there because its not going to happen. so it works like this - what type of race are you running and what kind of car do you want...
I want to own 0 - 120, so for me a centri is the way to go now if you want to ring it out to 150 or so, a turbo would be better this is not to say that both cant be setup for the vice versa, however to make a turbo car run quick et's you need a high stall... yada yada yada and basically the car becomes dangerous on the street. I say that if the car cant do it on the street - then it cant do it. So i like the power band of a centri, easier to hook up with and with a smart gear choice :wink , its going to be very quick. all of this in addition to the fact that there is always going to be somebody faster than you, esp all of us running stock motors and even you built 5.4 guys.... its all money and 90% us all of this constant arguing over which is best is more ego than purposeful because were all going to get owned by a new z06 anyway... or your going to miss a shift one day and beat by a honda... shit happens, the point being too much worrying over this or that when your not really going to anything to it anyway.... just my .02 |
