So I bought a shift knob for a 98 Cobra. Its like a Cue ball, and when I remove the stock and put the new one in, there is a bit of thread and shift showing and the cover wont stay up. Looks like shit and had to put the stock back on. Any help here?

my buddy has the same thing going on with the same shift knob on his Cobra. what you could do is put some washers on the shifter handle underneath the shifter boot. that should bring the boot up higher so you can't see the threads under the knob.

Or, you can cut off about a centimeter from the top of the shifter. I'm not familiar with the exact shifter in question so the design might limit how far you can cut it (if at all). I just know I've had shoft shifters in a couple different cars and have had to cut a centimeter off the top of one to get the knob to actually go down all the way.
