What do you mean turn the starter? Please tell me your not trying to start the car with i already on. When I mean start I mean turn the key. What are you doing?

no i definately dont start the car while its running. i meant i have to grind it a little more than usual to get the car to fire up. also i noticed if i have to run a few errands and make frequent offs and restarts, the car will grind the starter. please tell me what you think it might be?

thanks.

What exactly do you mean by grind the car? Start off with some basic checks, fuel, air, and electronics. Check the starter for any problems, is there enough fuel getting to your engine?, so on and so forth. I really wish I could help you, but you could you please be more descriptive?

you probly have to take the starter off and see if any of the gears are missing any teeth. on the starter and the gear the starter turns

sounds like what youre saying is the starter is getting hot, probaly losing voltage in the windings and the bendix will not fully engage or the batt cable from the starter to th solenoid is bad. wire is cheapest...start there.

:werd:

sounds like a hot starter to me too
you can check the teeth, or check to see if it needs shimming or anything like that, but you might want to look into a heat shield...
or quit with the stop and re-starts
