Is a Tubular k member a must?

I have a 96 GT and i am looking at twin turboing my car. I talked to someone and was told that i have to get a tubular k member cause the factory one will get in the way. is this true or is a tubular k-member a nice to have instead of a must?

Who would you recommend on a twin turbo kit that will produce mass amounts of power that wont break my wallet?

theres TT kits that come with EVERYTHING tubular k member, coil overs , fuel injectors, bovs everything... but you dont need a TK its just gonna be harder to route the tubing.

the only TT ive seen is Newt-rods custom setups, but it's not everything you'll need, a complete turbo build will cost up to $10k

actually, just about every turbo kit for modulars come with a tubular k-member or require one. It's almost impossible to route the downpipe through the stock k-member. If you cant afford a tubular k-member you can route your downpipe under the steering rack, but theres clearance issues with that route.

BTW QA1 has an affordable k-member at about $250-$290 depending on where you buy from. I think it requires coil-overs although which is about another $150. Still fairly cheap compared tho others although. keep in mind the qa1 k-member widens the stock wheelbase though.
