Magnapacks

Are the magnaflow magnapacks a type of muffler? I was researching them after reading this forum, but they do not look like any muffler I've seen. Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I have heard alot of good things about them and I want to get them.....whatever they are!!!!

Magnaflow mufflers are a muffler
Magnaflow magnapacks are more of a glasspack

They're just like mufflers, just alot louder

What car are you going to be installing them on? As MD said, the 'paks will be louder than the Magnaflows.

my car

It is a 1990 lx 5.0 AOD. It is bone stock right now except for a K&N filter. I have a transgo shiftkit and a 2000/2600 torque converter ordered and should be here any day now. Also friday, i am ordering 4:10 gears and probably start working on buying an exhaust set up. I heard that the magnapacks were loud, but I didn't really know where they hooked up at. I was thinking of getting MAC shorties and a matching O/R x pipe, but I didn't know what type of mufflers to get. If the magnapacks work like mufflers, then I want those because I want my car to be loud!!! Would it be better to get the magnapacks or a pair of 40 series mufflers by flowmaster? I appreciate the imput guys!!!!!!! Thanks.

packs would be super loud with the off raod x, but also might too raspy for your liking. Even with flowmaster 40's she'll still be loud when you get after it, but a little less raspy than backs. In my opinion, I would go with flowmaster 40's if you us an off road x...especially if you get headers too. The 40's will still be plenty loud, but have a better sound quality.

I want to try the magnapacks first because none of my buddies have them. They all have flowmasters. What size do i need for the loudest sound? I heard that the 18" were the loudest, but correct me if i am wrong. Is is true that the smaller the resonator, the louder the sound? I found a whole bunch of them at hottexhaust.com, and they have just about every size. Will these just weld on to my stock pipes? I'm pretty sure my car has 2.5" pipes all through it, but I might be wrong. PLease tell me if i am wrong so i dont order the wrong stuff. thanks!!!
