lowering V-6

The shop I use said they can lower my car by "heating" the springs. They said they can lower it (from stock) an inch in the front and 2.5 inches in the back. He said it will give it a more level look. They do it for $150.

Will lowering the car increase the performance at all or is it just for looks? Is heating the springs safe????

do not so that its the poor mans way to do it and compromises the integrity of the spring u will break it. if you must use the stock spring you u an inch off them not heat them and shrink them.

i wouldnt recommend cuttin them either, the springs are made a certain size and way for a reason...when u change that u kill the integrity of the spring...just get lowering springs

cutting it will only affect the ride hight the spring rebound rate will be the same. its not the best way but its safer then heating them if he MUST use the stockers.

Thanks for the input ....

yeah dont do it .. heating them withh fuck with the spring rate.. ( make it a hard ass ride) and make them more brittle cause they've been heat treated. also they'll wear out faster.. like everyone said they were designed to a specification and your thinking about screwing with it..

also this mod helps with body roll in corners.. lets your car stick to the road a little better when turning by lowering the centre of gravity.

also never cut a spring please.. it really does fuck with it.. lol i know your poor and all but i got my 2" lowering springs for 128$CAN shipped to my door. life time warrenty and all. only thing i hate now is my side exhuast and being soo low ...

ps.. i think the they sold me a kit that goes lower then 2 inches haha i'm lower then my buddies GT and he has side exhuast as well.

Ford C Springs come with directions on how to cut them. Cutting into the deadcoil section of a spring (within reason of course) doesn't effect the spring's integrity. I've have my cut springs on my car for ~90k miles and they still feel great.

BTW: Ford put C springs in the Mach I.
